I quit my job.

I'd been holding on to an idea for a while. It always showed up in the quiet moments—when the house was still, when the rain tapped softly at the windows, and I found my mind started to wander. I found myself thinking ahead, wondering what life might look like as the kids grow up, as we grow too. There’s this constant back and forth—excitement and uncertainty dancing together.
What if it works? What if it doesn’t?
Today felt like the right day to share a bit of that.Â
This may be old news to you if you’ve already seen the video - but for those of you who haven't, I will share the story here.Â
Back in the UK, I worked as a teaching assistant—a job I truly loved. But moving to Singapore gave me a chance to try something new. And that’s when this YouTube and content journey began. We wanted a place to share our move to Singapore, a way to keep in touch with family and friends in the UK and beyond and a way for other families moving to Singapore to see what life could be like.Â
Five years later, it still brings me so much joy and creative energy. But for the past few years, I’ve been juggling working in a school and content creation. And I’ve realised…
It’s time to give this creative life my full attention.
So, I’ve handed in my notice at school. It’s both scary and exciting. But more than anything, it feels right.
I'm grateful for what’s been, for what’s to come, and for you—for being here with us through it all.

As I’m writing this the rain is hammering hard on the window and distant thunder rumbles over. I took Aspen to school, she was all set, wellies on and a raincoat in hand. She got to school dry thankfully. I had grand plans to head out and do something outside in nature but with my plans rained off I decided to tackle something else—the creative room. The space where chaos and creativity collide.
This room has been the heart of so many projects—Jonty’s music, Aspen’s art, my editing, all tangled together. But it had become that room. You know the one. The door stays shut more than it should because it's become a bit too much and you don’t want your friends to see how messy you really can be.

But with a new chapter ahead, I wanted to clear the space and make it feel peaceful again. Because for me a calm space leads to a calm mind.
Aspen’s desk is in our study, she is beautifully creative, but she’ll begin one craft project and jump into another before finishing the first. It's part of her spark, but it does leave trails of paper and glue everywhere.
Jonty’s side is musical wires and instruments (so many wires!). And in the middle of it all—me, with my notebooks, half-finished lists, and keepsakes.
A particular keep sake is a little note. One day at Din Tai Fung, while having lunch with Jonty’s family, a waiter passed me a small note. It read:
"Hi, are you Millie? If so, I'm a fan of your channel. Enjoy your lunch – Greg."
It turns out Greg and his family were dining the other side of the restaurant and had asked a waiter to pass me the note. Greg, if you’re reading this —thank you. That note is now pinned on my board and has become a little source of encouragement on the tougher days. When views dip or self-doubt creeps in, it reminds me why I do this.
Not for numbers. But for connection.

Several hours later the room feels ready for new creativity. Aspen’s side is organised, the instruments are in place and my post-its are organized, It’s more than just tidying—it’s about making room for what’s next.
I’ve also been expanding—there’s now a TikTok, and more coming soon to Instagram and Facebook. More little windows into life here, our favorite spots in Singapore, and whatever stories we stumble into along the way.
I’m excited to revisit some of the places we filmed years ago—see what’s changed, share new perspectives. Singapore is always evolving, and we’re growing with it.
If you haven’t yet, I’d be so grateful if you’d subscribe on YouTube or follow along on socials. It really helps support this next chapter, and I can’t wait to share what’s ahead.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Truly.
- Millie
